Dr Nicola Ward is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon specialising in hip and knee replacement, sports knee surgery, and complex lower limb trauma. She trained in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, completing advanced fellowships in hip, knee, and pelvic surgery, and is currently a Visiting Medical Officer at Mater Private Hospital, South Brisbane.
Dr Nicola Ward is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon with extensive training in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. After completing her medical degree at Otago University in New Zealand (MBChB, 1995–2000), she undertook both Basic and Advanced Surgical Training in Queensland, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2011 and a Fellow of the Australian Orthopaedic Association in 2014. To further refine her expertise, she completed two prestigious overseas fellowships: Hip and Knee Arthroplasty under Professor Beverland at Musgrave Park Hospital in Belfast, and Pelvis and Acetabular Trauma with Revision Hip Arthroplasty under Mr Tony Ward, Mr Tim Chesser, and Mr Mehool Acharya at Frenchay and Southmead Hospitals in Bristol. Dr Ward is currently a Visiting Medical Officer at Mater Private Hospital, South Brisbane, with special interests in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, sports knee surgery including arthroscopy, meniscus repair and ligament reconstruction, lower limb trauma, and neck of femur fractures.
